Let's explore respect.
Respect is talking and acting in a way that is fair and safe.
It includes treating other people and their property with kindness.
We all have a right to:
Be spoken to and treated with respect
Personal space and privacy
Choose who we spend our time with
We should be respectful to others also.
We can do it by acting with kindness, and by thinking about their feelings.

I feel respected when people listen to my ideas and support me.
Who shows you respect?
How do they make you feel?
When we are friendly and speak kindly to others, they are likely to want to talk to us.

Using manners is a great way to be respectful.
We can say please when we want something, and thank you when others give us something or help us.
The way we look at people or use our body when we are communicating can also be respectful, or seem mean.
This one fish always stares at me when I waddle by.
So annoying!
I take a few deep breaths to stay calm.
I feel respected by others when they listen to my boundaries, and behave in a way that keeps us safe.
We can choose who we spend our personal time with.
When you show respect to others, people are more likely to share their time or things with you.
People that feel disrespected by your words or actions might choose to not share, play or spend time with you.

When we have self-respect, we try our best to make choices that are helpful to our wellbeing, and we speak and act kindly to ourselves and others.
We can be proud of our choices and efforts.
