​I tell myself that it’s okay to be sad and that this feeling will pass.

When my sadness feels overwhelming I breathe in until my lungs are full and count to 5.

1... 2... 3... 4... 5...

Then I breathe out as slow as I can.

I do this until my only thoughts are about my breathing and my body relaxes. 

I accept that I feel sad, but allow happy or peaceful thoughts to be felt too. 

I think about the reason I am sad and if I can do anything about it, then I move on and focus on something else. 

I keep my peace by resting, listening to my favourite music and focusing on a creative task.

I like to draw or write a story about a character who feels how I feel and shares the same experiences. 

Being creative helps me manage my feelings.
