Trusted adults are grown-ups who help us, keep us safe,
and treat us with respect.
They are responsible and make good choices when we are together.
We feel comfortable and valued with trusted adults.
My trusted adults are my aunty, uncle, and grandparents, because they treat me with respect.
Who are your trusted adults?
Sometimes I want to talk about how I feel,
but I don’t know what to say.
To help understand my thoughts, I practice deep breathing.
When I don’t know what emotion I am feeling I tell them the thoughts I have that I don’t like or what’s making my body feel not right.
If I am not ready to talk, I might say:
“That made me feel really angry. I need some time to cool down.”
When I am ready to talk about how I feel, I tell them what is bothering me.
It might sound like:
“I’m feeling angry about what happened. Can we talk about it?”
If I know what I can do to feel better sometimes I ask my trusted adult to join me.
